Scotland’s Alain Bauer championed the Lodge Poker Championship Main Event title for a career-best $374,800 and the trophy. Eric Afriat settled for a runner-up payday worth $320,000 via a heads-up deal.

St. Paul, Minnesota’s Gerald Cunniff won the MSPT South Dakota State Poker Championship for $94,843. A heads-up chop saw Mike Estes taking home a runner-up payday worth $75,000.

Italy’s Sandro Hauser championed the 2022 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event for a career-best €56,800 (~$59,853) following a three-way deal with the former Catalan chess title winner Alexandre Ventura Bolet (2nd for €41,400) and 2013 EPT Barcelona runner-up Kimmo Kurko (3rd for €39,800).

Alain Bauer Champions Lodge Poker Championship Main Event For $374,800

The Lodge Poker Championship $3,000 Main Event attracted 617 entries across six starting flights, and the $2,000,000 prize pool was distributed among the top 74 finishers.

After four days of intense action, Scotland’s Alain Bauer came out on top to clinch the Main Event title for a career-best $374,800 and the trophy. Eric Afriat settled for a runner-up payday worth $320,000, courtesy of a heads-up deal.

According to the Hendon Mob database, Alain Bauer boosted his lifetime live scores tally to $679,600 after this win. In this series, he also placed third in Event #10: $5,000 High Roller for $52,054, banking a collective $426,000 in the series.

After the win, Bauer said, “When I focus, I can play high-level poker. But I do not play a lot; I was not well for a long time. As soon as I can stay focused, there is no problem for me” and added, “I think when you don’t play very often, you are happy when you do play and will play your best game.”

Bauer also said, “I decided to come here last minute. I went to WPT Choctaw from Mexico and then heard about the Lodge and these tournaments and decided to go last minute. Throughout my life, I have followed my intuition, so I just thought I had to come here.”

Gerald Cunniff Ships MSPT South Dakota State Poker Championship For $94,843

St. Paul, Minnesota’s Gerald Cunniff won the MSPT South Dakota State Poker Championship at the Silverado-Franklin Hotel and Gaming Complex in Deadwood, South Dakota, for $94,843. A heads-up deal saw Mike Estes taking home a runner-up payday worth $75,000.

According to his Hendon Mob profile, Gerald Cunniff had $380,328 in live earnings before this win.

After the win, when asked where he was putting the legendary trophy, Cunniff said, “It’s going right on the mantle until my wife takes it away.”

He added, “The trophy is really cool, but the money is really the best thing.”

The $1,110 buy-in Main Event was one of the region’s most extensive and most successful ever, as the massive 506-entry field created a prize pool of $489,320 divided among the final 54 players.

Italy’s Sandro Hauser championed the 2022 888poker LIVE Barcelona €1,100 Main Event for a career-best €56,800 (~$59,853) at Casino Barcelona following a three-way deal with the former Catalan chess title winner Alexandre Ventura Bolet (2nd for €41,400) and 2013 EPT Barcelona runner-up Kimmo Kurko (3rd for €39,800).

Sandro Hauser boosted his lifetime live winnings to $121,601 after the win.

The €1,100 buy-in Main Event collected a prize pool of €320,640 after 334 entries signed up to play.
